| 5-401 Student Disciplinary Procedures |
| General |
| A |
The purpose of this policy is to establish
disciplinary procedures to guide the enforcement of the
Student Code of Conduct. These procedures are applicable
to any student or student organization that is charged
with a violation of the Student Code of Conduct.
| |
| B |
These disciplinary procedures are designed to allow for
fact-finding and decision-making in the context of an educational
community, and to encourage students to accept responsibility
for their own actions. The intent is to provide adequate
procedural safeguards to protect the rights of the individual
student and the legitimate interests of the university. |
| |
| C |
The universities may use mediation or conciliation procedures
in addition to these disciplinary procedures in accordance
with policies and procedures adopted by each university. |
| |
| D |
Student records that, in accordance with the Family Educational
Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), are generated during the
information gathering/decision-making process associated
with these procedures are confidential. |
