Hearing Board
The Hearing Board is the body that reviews appeals submitted to the Dean regarding student suspension/expulsions. The purpose of the Hearing Board is to formulate a recommendation to the Vice President for Student Affairs as to whether a violation of the Student Code of Conduct was more likely than not to have been committed by the student, and if so, the appropriate sanction to be imposed.
The Hearing Board is composed of five members, including two (2) students, and three (3) faculty members.
Hearing Board Training
Every year, the Dean of Students Office conducts training for campus community members who serve on hearing boards.
During hearing board training, members review the Code of Conduct and the Code of Academic Integrity. In addition, training covers due process and important legal issues, as well as topics regarding student organizations and Greek Life, mental illness, and issues surrounding sexual assault.
